Castros were settlements placed in hills. The usually have a defensive wall, made of stone without mortar. Buildings are usually round-shaped.

The first known castros were build in the Bronce Age, before the Celtic Invasions.

Castro Borneiro is one of the most important ones in Galiza. It was inhabitated between VI B.C and I A.C. Industrial tools were found, like crucibles and moulds used in metallury. Nowadays these objects are exposed in the Castle of San Antón, in A Coruña.
