Virxe da Barca celebrations are among the most popular in Galiza. The important day is second sunday of September, except when it is on the 8th, being moved then to the 15th. Celebrations start the friday before.

On saturday people walk from dowtown to the sanctuary, full of people and traditional stalls.

On sunday Misa Grande (Great Mass) is celebrated outdoors. Afterwards, the take the virgin image to the harbour, where water is blessed. Right after it, the party beguins.

Around the sanctuary we can find miracolous stones. The Kidney Stone simbolizes the boat where the Virgin arrived to our coast; the "Abalar" Stone would be the sail.

The Abalar Stone can oscilate if you stand on it. The legend says it can only be moved by those with pure heart.
